1997 might've been a peak year for interest in UFOs. The famous sightings of unexplained lights in the sky of Phoenix, AZ area witnessed by thousands of people sparked a lot of interest. Geraldo Rivera was a notable name in the world of daytime talk shows in the late 80s throughout the 90s. At times he tried to carry himself with more gravitas than other hosts in that genre, but no one took him very seriously. Still, he decided to go all in on UFOs in 1997, holding a panel discussion about the subject with a bunch of random people. These types of shows remind me of staying home sick when I was a kid.
