tmnt.wav is an attempt on my part to create something out of a warm, fuzzy nostalgic property like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and inject it with some real life emotions in a way that kind of haunts it and controls it. It's funny at times, leans heavy on nostalgia and I hope it hits the right notes with people who listen.

New Hire Orientation

New Hire Orientation is my first attempt at producing vaporwave music. As a matter of fact, it's the first time I've attempted to make anything music-related since I was a kid. When I discovered the genre I was immediately fixated to its focus on sampling, in particular the types of samples used and the manner in which they were presented. It wasn't so much about making something wholly original, but rather recontextualizing existing media to elicit an emotion. This record was an attempt to use my useless knowledge and interest in workplace training videos and build something that is structured around exploring these types of videos. It isn't perfect, but I'm happy with the outcome overall and it's given me the itch to continue to produce vaporwave music.
